Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
I was whining, er, discussing on Twitter how I was jealous of everyone doing turkey trots this year. It just sounds like so much fun.
We live in a rural area and are just going to my mom's for Thanksgiving this year, so, no turkey trot anywhere in site.
Well, the wonderful Cassie suggested we do a virtual turkey trot. Hooray! Just what I needed.
I have christened this event the First Annual Virtual Turkey Trot. To be held, you know, annually and virtually.
Join us!
You can trot anytime Thanksgiving Day. Drag your family along. Walk, run, whatever suits your fitness ability. I'll be doing a 5k at our local track in the morning before we head out. If that's too much for you, then do a mile, whatever works for you, just get moving with us!
Will you join us for for a little Thanksgiving Day virtual fun? Tell us about it in the comments! Then come back for Friday's post and share with us how it went. Or if you're one of the ones running an actual turkey trot, share about that.
Gobble, gobble. Happy trotting.
Yes this is great! I'm so doing this ... I needed to walk 3 miles on Thursday anyway! 5K = 3.1 miles right?!?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Yay! Glad you're joining us.
ReplyDeleteYippee!!! Though I must say VTT sounds like something one catches ;-) I can't wait though should be lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'm in! I'm going to the gym that morning anyway. I'm not up to running that long yet, but I'll make sure I get in 3.1 miles! LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI will totally join you on your virtual turkey trot. There's no way I want to drive to Dallas early tomorrow morning and deal with thousands of runners. No thank you. I'll celebrate by going to a park and trotting.
ReplyDeleteSaw your tweet. I am actually running a Turkey Trot by the beach tomorrow at Dana Point but I still want to be part of your Virtual Turkey Trot to support and encourage others to do a trot on Thanksgiving Day.
ReplyDeleteWill be back for my recap :)
Glad you're in Sarah and Kyra! Lea...By the beach, sounds like bliss!
ReplyDeleteTrot trot trot... I am thankful for so much, getting healthy in 2010 is near the top of my list behind family & friends.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I'm back and the Turkey Trot went well. It was chilly at first (low 40s, that's cold for a Californian) and it slowly warmed up once we saw the sun and running along the beach.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Thanksgiving!
