Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
Now that a little of the New Years Resolutions hoopla has died down I thought it'd be a good time to share the goals I plan to accomplish in 2011. In particular the fitness/running/weight loss related goals.
In 2011 I will:
In 2011 I will:
- Run a 5k in under 30 minutes. My fastest 5k was almost 33 minutes, I plan to incorporate some more speed work into my routine and shave this down.
- Reach my goal weight of 140-145 pounds and go into maintenance mode. This will just take consistency in my food choices and workouts.
- Do 5 pull ups and 5 chin ups. Considering I can do neither I have my work cut out for me here!
- Run an 8 minute mile. My fastest mile was 9:26. This may be a reach, but I'm going to give it my all!
- Obsess less. Less about food, weight, etc. This might seem contradictory to all the rest of my goals, but I don't think so. I need to seek more balance in my thinking. Less obsessing about these things. Focusing on them at certain times, like when I'm working out, or when I'm eating is normal. But focusing/thinking about them constantly is not. This has been my struggle, I want to make more progress towards a healthy balance in my thinking about food and weight. That is one reason you will see me trying new eating plans this year, to me a plan makes it mindless, gives me less to obsess about.
- Try a TON of new things. In my quest of finding what works for me I plan to try a ton of new things this year. New eating plans, new workouts, new gear, etc, etc. That's sort of the reasoning behind my Adventures in Tracking blog and Hype or Help experiments. To try lots of new things all year; how can I know what works best for me if I don't try new things?! Plus, it cuts the boredom and monotony of weight loss.
**2011 Journal Exercise: Now you, what goals will you accomplish in 2011? Write them out!
one hundred percent Fix! My! Booooooty!
ReplyDeleteOM totally gonna git there this year.
stretching rolling and YOGA.
OM gonna do it.
I didn't know there was a difference between pull-ups and chin-ups! I can't do even one. I'd like to make that goal! I need to get a bar so when I start P90X I can work on this.
ReplyDeleteA soild set of goals you have here. They are all great goals to aspire to and I can just imagine the great smiles we'll see from you once you achieve them. The 'Trying new things' goal, my fave on your list. Monotony is always lurking waiting to knock us off our momentum and out ofthe game. How many times have we seen weightloss bloggers disappear and then reappear months and months later 50 pounds heavier? Ugh, monotony got them. Kudos to you for realizing the importance of keeping it fresh and continuously learning new ways to be better.
ReplyDeleteThose all sound like very reasonable, very do-able goals, Kerri. You're going to rock this year! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome goals for the new year!
ReplyDeleteI need to sign up for that obsess less one. :)
ReplyDeletegreat!..my main goal is to be more organic, its a hard but fun challenge, we have a set food budget, but I will be more careful. My weight is right on track so I dont have to obsess too much...
ReplyDeleteOur goals are very similar. I'm shooting for 24 minute 5K, 7 minute mile, at least 1 pullup and I am definitely trying a ton of new things! Good luck! My goal weight is 190 lbs.
ReplyDeleteGreat goals!!! I love 2011 goals!!! Good luck to you in the new year!! And, great transformation so far!!
