Paleo Coconut Cream Pops - Dairy-Free, No Added Sugar

Am I the only one that is so. Danged. Glad. that warm weather is here?!

This summer here on FitViews I'll be working on sharing lots of Paleo friendly, kid friendly, taste bud friendly recipes. First up...

Paleo Coconut Cream Pops
1 Can Organic Coconut Milk (NOT Lite)
1 17.6 oz Can Blue Monkey Coconut Water
1 tsp Organic Vanilla
1/2 Cup Fine Shredded Coconut
Popsicle-making molds

Blend coconut milk, coconut water, and vanilla well (I use my blender). Add the shredded coconut and blend lightly. Pour immediately into popsicle molds.

Freeze. This takes about 4 hours in my freezer. Enjoy!

This recipe is perfect as-is to my tastes, but if you want it sweeter add a tablespoon or two of maple syrup or honey.

Reebok Zig Carbon Review #LiveWithFire

A few weeks ago I received the Zig Carbon from Reebok to test out and review.
Basic info on the Zig Carbon:
  • Synthetic/mesh upper for comfort, fit and durability
  • Low-cut design for mobility with removable PU sock liner to cushion and accommodate orthotics
  • ZigCarbon outsole is designed for energy return with a full-length carbon fiber plate for flexibility through the forefoot and structured support in the midfoot
  • Forefoot and heel foam pods for excellent cushioning and shock absorption
  • High abrasion rubber outsole for increased durability
  • Duel-density ZigLite sole with a  prominent flex groove allows the carbon fiber plate to do its work
  • Maximized support adds structure while maintaining light weight
  • 180 degree heel-cup construction
  • Unique military-grade 100% carbon fiber plate
  • Nylon fused to open mesh upper for breathability and lightweight support

Over the past few weeks I've tested the Zig Carbons out in various workouts:
I did run/walk intervals on the treadmill in the Zig Carbon and also did a 2 mile run in them.
I did my strength training/weights workouts in them.
I even celebrated the fact that I can still reach my toes to stretch post-workout in my last trimester.
I found that I really loved these shoes for run/walk intervals on the treadmill. In the past I've discovered that not all of my running shoes work well as walking shoes, or for intervals. These were flawless for that purpose. I also really loved the solid foundation I felt these gave me for strength training/weight lifting workouts.

What I loved about the Zig Carbon:

  • Stability/support in a lightweight shoe
  • The look/color
  • Comfort
  • Flexibility for use in a variety of workout situations

The last year or two I've been working my way towards more minimal shoes. However, I've found during this pregnancy (especially the latter half) I'm wanting a bit more stability/support in a shoe. The Zig Carbon was a perfect fit for what I'm looking for in a shoe right now. They offer the stability and support I'm wanting while still being a more flexible and lightweight shoe like I prefer.

Disclaimer: I was sent these shoes for review. As always opinions are 100% honest and my own.

Review: Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones with Reebok Armband

I was ecstatic to receive the Bose SIE2i Sport Headphones for review.
I have a little confession: I can't run without music. While I envy those of you that can go out and be one with the run, that's just not me. I need my tunes. I've even been known to go back home from the track to retrieve my forgotten ipod. A track workout with no music just seems like no fun!

Don't you love the orange?
I just plain enjoy music when I run. It motivates me through tough workouts like sprints at the track. On most easy runs you'll find me belting out Kelly Clarkson. (Please note: I cannot sing, but I do anyway. It's OK, I live in the middle of nowhere, although I have scared the cows before. Everybody's a critic these days.) Music + running = happy me.

What's in the box.
A little product info from

To push your workout to the limit, you need headphones that can keep up. Bose® SIE2i sport headphones deliver a combination of sweat- and weather-resistance, comfortably secure fit and Bose quality sound that conventional sports earbuds can’t match. The exclusive Reebok® fitness armband holds your device securely and comfortably in place during exercise – plus stores your headphones when your workout’s over. And the inline remote and microphone let you conveniently control select Apple products.

What I love about the Bose SIE2i Headphones:
  • These headphones (and the included armband) are designed specifically for workouts/fitness activity.
  • The ear buds are sweat-proof and water resistant AND they stay put!
  • The shorter cable. I am constantly flinging my ipod across the track with my other earbuds because I catch the cord wrong with my hand while doing sprints. No problem here. (it also comes with an extension if you need the cord longer)
  • The touch-sensitive plastic window on the arm band. Makes it so much more functional.
  • The separate pocket in the armband to stash keys etc.
  • The inline remote and microphone. This is a very cool feature that lets you control volume/track selection and even take calls if you have an iphone.
  • The sound quality. It's amazing!
  • The colors. OK, call me silly, but I love the colors these come in.

Just for fun, my current favorite get-me-through playlist:
