Paleo Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burgers

Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments.  In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun!  paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

First Annual Virtual Turkey Trot Recap

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you Turkey Trot with us?? I did. Things didn't go quite as planned, but I trotted! I intended to go down to the track and run outside, but when I got up it was 20 degrees outside. I chickened out and decided to just move my run to the treadmill. It was awesome. Took me about 37 minutes, but I was in no big hurry. Such an awesome way to start the holiday. I felt energized and prepared to make good choices. I think it even put me in a better mood for the day! I really enjoyed all of your tweets about this, thanks everyone who participated! Let's do it again next year. Now you, did you trot with us? Were you active somehow yesterday?

First Annual Virtual Turkey Trot

I was whining, er, discussing on Twitter how I was jealous of everyone doing turkey trots this year. It just sounds like so much fun. We live in a rural area and are just going to my mom's for Thanksgiving this year, so, no turkey trot anywhere in site.  Well, the wonderful Cassie  suggested we do a virtual turkey trot. Hooray! Just what I needed. I have christened this event the First Annual Virtual Turkey Trot. To be held, you know, annually and virtually. Join us! You can trot anytime Thanksgiving Day. Drag your family along. Walk, run, whatever suits your fitness ability. I'll be doing a 5k at our local track in the morning before we head out. If that's too much for you, then do a mile, whatever works for you, just get moving with us! Will you join us for for a little Thanksgiving Day virtual fun? Tell us about it in the comments! Then come back for Friday's post and share with us how it went. Or if you're one of the ones running an actual tur

Things I'm Loving Right Now--Healthy Foods to Have on Hand

Just a quick list of some of the foods that are definitely in my arsenal for fighting holiday weight gain!  I find it helpful to trim some calories here and there this time of year. I'm willing to give up my usual half in half in my coffee for a while to save a few calories. I use the Unsweetend Vanilla Almond Milk instead of skim milk, every bit adds up.  The 2% Fage is a bit of a splurge, but I find splurging wisely on things like that helps me to not feel so abused passing up other treats. The VitaTops are also extremely helpful in avoiding the treats that are shoved at us from all over this time of year. I can happily say I had absolutely no Halloween candy this year...didn't even want it. I would so rather have a yummy Vitatop.  Having healthier alternatives like the VitaTops, Fage Greek Yogurt, and Pink Lady apples on hand for snacks during the holidays is a must. I can usually talk myself out of the other sugary junk that seems to creep its way in this time of year.

Sports Bras for Busty Babes

OK, so discussing the, um 'girls' is weird for me, but I know that a lot of women trying to lose weight struggle with the same issues, especially when it comes to finding a good sports bra, so discuss them I will. I've tried a TON of sports bras and today I'm sharing the best of the best for women DD, DDD, DDDD+. Now, these are for running and high impact activities. You might get away with lesser bras for lesser workouts, but we all know we need the good stuff for high impact! I've gone through and completely updated this post with new links. Including only my all time favorites. All brands that I have personally tried. I mentioned some in the video and some are new since I updated this post:

I'm Back On The Sauce

I had pretty much sworn off sugar completely for the past several months. I was previously so out of balance with it and feeling like crap. I ditched the sugar completely and cut back on many other carbs, I did Primal for a while (that's been ditched lately though) and all around felt better. However, I've felt lately like I've gone out of balance the other way! Life is a balancing act, and I'm constantly over-correcting. I've been having wicked cravings and wildly fantasizing about things like VitaTops. While I was on Primal I was ready to propose marriage to oatmeal. OK, big billboard signs I was out of balance again. Recently I've decided to include back in sensible treats. Oatmeal has become a staple again and I've decided a little sugar here and there to keep the food porn thoughts in check is OK too. I will still have to pay attention to how what I'm eating is making me feel.  I know too much wheat and sugar are generally the culprits, so I

Final Verdict on the JCPenney Budget Running Wear Experiment

This is the navy set I bought and reviewed. Cute. Better to wear shopping instead of running though! And the Beloved running skirt.

Insanity Update

So, there you have it. Still doing Insanity. Still loving it.  Would love to hear if there's any workouts in particular you guys would like me to review next! How about you, what workouts are you loving right now? I am just a blogger, not a doctor, trainer, or any sort of professional. What you read here are my personal experiences and opinions. Of course, always consult your doctor before trying a diet, supplement, or new workout program.

Look Out Holiday Weight Gain...I'm Coming For You

Oh ya. It's November. You know what that means. Thanksgiving is just around the corner...and then...Christmas...and then...New Years Eve... That time is here. That time of the year that can be challenging (to put it mildly) to those of us trying to lose weight and be fit. Even those trying to maintain their weight are put to the test during the holiday season.  Parties, gatherings, celebrations aka food in extravagant, decadent, fat/sugar/calorie laden abundance. We will face these things over and over and over again...for months. This year the holidays better watch out...holiday weight gain best just move along...nothing to see here! Holidays schmolidays....I have goals, I have plans, I have dreams waiting for me. Just like everything else in my life now: I have set goals, I have written them down, and I have made plans for how I will make them happen. I. Believe. In me. This year there will be much less this: And much more this: This will be the first post of many on
