Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
I also wasn't very into nutrition then either. Lots of junk food was consumed. Lots. I had a vague concept of healthy, but tended toward the unhealthy for sure. Then, at some point shortly after I married my husband I began to become fascinated with all things nutrition. I devoured books and blogs and began to expand my narrow comfort zone of food choices.
Around that time, I latched on to the idea of variety being a good thing when it comes to good nutrition and really embraced fruits and veggies for the first time. When my kids got a little older we started making it a habit of trying new fruits and veggies at the grocery store (we still do this when we see something different). We've found many new favorites this way.
Like mangoes!
We love fresh mango, but it's not always in season of course. I resort to buying frozen fruit a lot and was thrilled when I found frozen mango! I was excited to be able to start playing with mango smoothie recipes. Something I hadn't done before. Let's face it, it wasn't likely I was going to peel, dice, and freeze mangoes on my own for smoothie recipes. My kids would totally have eaten them before they made it to the freezer!
I have many varieties of mango smoothie recipes now. They're soooo good! Mango is delicious plain in a smoothie, as the standout flavor, but this Mango Peach Protein Smoothie is definitely a favorite. The peaches and vanilla protein powder are really yummy with the Mango. This smoothie is definitely making getting more protein in my diet a treat. It's totally clean, but feels completely indulgent. It tastes like a dessert!
Mango Peach Protein Smoothie

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. If your blender isn't great (like mine, boo), you may need to add the cashew milk, protein powder, and mango and blend. Then, add the peaches one at a time.

Yum! Let me know if you try it.
Do you love mango? Tried it in smoothies yet?
