Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

For the month I lost: 2 lbs, 1/2 inch on my waist, 1/2 inch on my thigh, 1/4 inch on my calf, 1/4 inch on my arm, and an inch on my hips. Again, similar to Paleo, I saw more loss in measurements than on the scale. I'm fine with that.
Could I have been a little more hardcore and seen better results? Absolutely. I could have lowered my carbs even more. The first 2 weeks I didn't get the weights workouts in as I should have. Also, I could have done a little more low-level activity. But here's the thing: the way I went about this month was enjoyable. I didn't feel deprived, starving, worn out or any of the other things we can feel on 'diets'. I felt peaceful and well. AND I saw results. That's a win in my book.

Sounds like a lot of positive changes! Great job! Paleo/primal eating is how I've lost most of my weight but I have to keep my calories super low to make big strides.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara! Interesting, I'll keep that in mind.
ReplyDeleteI agree - this is absolutely a win! I had someone tell me, and I try to keep this in mind, "don't do it if you aren't willing to do it forever." Since you were able to enjoy yourself this past month AND lose pounds and inches, I think you can definitely call yourself a winner. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! but I am wondering how you could lower your calories any more - it didn't seem like you were eating more than 1000-1200 calories and you were excersizing.
ReplyDeleteWhat was your carb, protein, fat intake ratio?
