Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

Hmm, didn't really expect that. This was a really great week. It is getting close to that time of the month, so perhaps that is it. Not going to focus on it or try to make excuses...moving on...
My workouts were awesome this week. I did 2 days of weights, lifted heavy. One day was sprint/walk intervals at the track. Plus, I walked a little over 16 miles total for the week! Awesome.
For this last week I'm going to track with My Fitness Pal every day. Just to be sure my calories, carbs, and protein are where they should be. My workouts I plan to just stay the course, they were great last week so just more of the same.
Also, I am ditching the whey protein. This is tough for me. I was so excited to have it back after last month, but I'm having some issues with it. I now see why Robb Wolf recommends going strict Paleo for 30 days and then slowly introducing some things back if you want, while paying attention to how these things make you feel. Had I not ditched the dairy completely I may never have known. What I've noticed is that right after I have a smoothie with whey my nose is a little snarfly (sorry, best description) and I've been feeling a little bloated too. Also, my acne had hugely improved on the full Paleo and has been worse again this month. So, I'm taking the whey protein back out to see if it changes these things. This smoothie junkie may have to hunt for a protein that agrees with her. Any ideas?!
I come away from these last two months of self experimentation amazed at how certain foods affect me in ways I had no idea! Crazy.
Kerri, try Pea Protein by Olympic Labs. It's really great and no, it does not taste like peas! :) Has a great amino acid profile and 25 gr. protein per serving. No sugar, either, although it is sweetened with a little stevia.
ReplyDeleteIt totally blows my mind how certain food agrees or disagrees with my body! I never realized it until I went paleo. I think after taking all the junk out, my system is now highly sensitive!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on all of the walking! You are on a roll! :)
I have noticed when I eat dairy I am waaaaay more congested now and I lose all focus when I add/slip/cheat with certain foods. Just goes to show you don't know how your body really feels until you start to feel better.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's all the cream you seem to have?
ReplyDeleteOh gosh maybe it's just your bodies way of trying to situate it's self with all the changes your making.
