Paleo Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burgers

Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments.  In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun!  paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

I am going to try to sum up my thoughts about Paleo without getting too wordy. Apparently I have a lot to say about it! Before I get into my final thoughts on the Paleo Diet I want to discuss my why . Why did I decide to go Paleo? A couple of reasons. First, my husband. He has

Things I'm Loving Right Now -- August

Things mentioned: and RobbWolf.com  I highly recommend ignoring my crazy ramblings on what he says and reading the book yourself. I know I can confuse. But this is a really awesome book on Paleo. and everydaypaleo.com  my review of this book: Cathe Intensity DVD Cathe Lower Body Blast DVD AppleGate Farms Turkey Bacon and Beef Hot Dogs Chicken of the Sea Wild Caught Canned Salmon 1-Pint (16-oz) - Coconut Cream Concentrate 32-oz. - Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil - 1 quart Shelton's Italian Turkey Sausage Organic Valley Pasture Butter Crystal Geyser Sparkling Mineral Water Natural Grocers : Fresh Ground Almond Butter Almond Meal Coconut Flour There you have it, what I was obsessed with in August. I forgot the Lindt 90% Dark Chocolate and the My Spice Sage Cinnamon . That's what I get for losing my list! FTC Disclaimer: I received the coconut oil for review, everything else mentioned I purchased myself. (I hope you guys know by now tha

Paleo Week 3 Weigh In

As usual, I'll just start with the numbers. My results on the Paleo diet so far: Week 1 Stats Weight 177 BF% 32.4% Waist 34.5 Right Thigh 21.5 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Week 2 Stats Weight 176 BF% 32.2% Waist 34 Right Thigh 21.25 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Hips 42.5 Week 3 Stats Weight 176 BF% 31.8% (using an Omron BF Monitor) Waist 33.5 Right Thigh 21 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Hips 42 I am baffled by my results (physical and otherwise) so far with eating Paleo. Weight loss has been only 1 pound total in 3 weeks, but I am losing inches like mad ! I can feel it too. I feel thinner all over. My clothes are lose. My stomach is noticeably smaller! I've never experienced anything like this. Normally (for me) the scale and inches play nice. It's a good thing I did measurements as well as using the scale.  I still feel fanfriggintastic and I'm not stressed out or obsessed over what the scale is doing. I have made peace with food and how I'm eating (you

One I gave away on facebook...and the second one... Twitter giveaway time.   Comments on this post do not count as entries, you must tweet me your entries. Paleo Friendly Flavored Coffee Creamer Recipe

Since going Paleo I've tried everything in my coffee and loved nothing.  Someone suggested I google: Primal Coconut 'Crack' Creamer. This is what I came up with:  Original recipe .  I altered it a bit because the canned coconut milk (I think it's the guar gum) was bothering me and I'm doing NO sweeteners this month (nope, not even stevia). This recipe is sweetener and guar gum free. My Recipe: 1 cup water 3 tsp Tropical Traditions Coconut Cream Concentrate 1 Pasteurized Egg 2 Tablespoons Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil (melted) 1 tsp Organic Vanilla Extract 1 tsp Cinnamon Dash Nutmeg Throw everything together in the blender (or use a hand mixer). Mix well. Refrigerate. Mine turned out a little runnier than the recipe I saw online, but it's yummy! It separates a little in the refrigerator, I just stir it up each time before using. I'm a happy coffee loving paleo girl now ;) Products mentioned: 1-Pint (16-oz) - Coconut Cream Concentrat

Paleo Week 2 Check In

First, to the numbers: Week 1 Stats Weight 177 BF% 32.4% Waist 34.5 Right Thigh 21.5 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Week 2 Stats Weight 176 BF% 32.2% Waist 34 Right Thigh 21.25 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Hips (which I forgot to measure the first 2 weeks) 42.5 Starting to see things move in the right direction. One pound down and down a little in my measurements. Glad to see it.  If you're interested in detailed tracking of what foods I'm eating, etc you can find my daily Going Paleo vlogs here . I am starting to realize that Paleo means a lot of different things to different people. Not wildly different, but it can get a little tough when looking for what exactly to tweak to get better results. I'm thinking I should have picked a specific book (I'm liking Robb Wolf's best) to follow for this month. For instance fruit, there are differing opinions on how much someone trying to lose weight on Paleo should eat. The same with nuts and even fats. Depending wher

Everyday Paleo by Sarah Fragoso Review

If you've been watching my daily vlogs or weekly posts on my little Paleo experiment you know that I've been using this book a lot. I've read it completely and made many of the recipes. Now, I'm ready to share my thoughts:

Paleo Week 1 Check In

First, I'll get right to the numbers of my first week results on the Paleo diet. Beginning Stats Weight 177 BF% 32.5% Waist 34.5 Right Thigh 21.5 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Week 1 Stats Weight 177 BF% 32.4% Waist 34.5 Right Thigh 21.5 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 Exactly the same. The .1 difference on the BF monitor is nothing, readings on that can vary. Normally I might be discouraged, disappointed, or annoyed, but I'm not. I knew I hadn't lost anything this week, but honestly, from the amount of nuts and fruit (along with all the other yummy foods) I had over the weekend and all week long really, I would normally have expected a gain. I'm focusing on the positive, changing a few things this next week, and moving on. What I'm loving about Paleo so far: Not having to count calories or track obsessively. Love this. Mentally this is priceless to me. I am tracking via my daily vlogs on Adventures in Tracking , but that's it. I have no idea how many calori

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. ~Aristotle

The Paleo Diet Experiment Starting Stats

I have read the previous version of The Paleo Diet; I just ordered this updated version. Today is Day 1 of my Paleo Hype or Help experiment , and I have to say I'm pretty excited to go Paleo for a month. I feel very prepared and ready to make it a fun month (or longer, who knows?). I LOVE trying something new. First, my beginning stats: Beginning Stats Weight 177 BF% 32.5% Waist 34.5 Right Thigh 21.5 Right Calf 14.75 Right Arm 12 I've back-slid a tiny bit the last week. It's been hot, I've been busy, blah blah I've been making excuses to myself. Enough. I am excited to have a little re-set here. My meals are planned , my cupboards are filled with healthy Paleo foods, I'm ready! For my workouts during this experiment I will be training for my 5k and trying out some new Cathe workouts I ordered. Click here to visit Cathe dot Com.  I'll also probably throw in some random workout DVDs here and there; I have several to review right now. I aim for 5 or 6
