Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky

I am starting to realize that Paleo means a lot of different things to different people. Not wildly different, but it can get a little tough when looking for what exactly to tweak to get better results. I'm thinking I should have picked a specific book (I'm liking Robb Wolf's best) to follow for this month. For instance fruit, there are differing opinions on how much someone trying to lose weight on Paleo should eat. The same with nuts and even fats. Depending where you look you will find something different.
So, I am just going to take in all the information and then try to go with what I think is best for my body.
My workouts were a little less frequent than I'm used to. Mostly because they were much more effective and I was SORE. After the impromptu workout I did while watching my boys play I was seriously sore for three days! Boosted my confidence that I do know what to do and don't always have to rely on a DVD or something else. I definitely pushed myself harder than I have for a while.
I still feel fantastic. So fantastic that I don't think I will roam too far from this way of eating. I'm planning to 'go Primal' for September. Then I will probably settle on some version of Paleo/Primal to stick with. Oh no, will I have to rename my blog?! ;)
So happy to hear you're going to continue with eating this way into September! When I initially started eating this way, I wasn't consuming very much fruit but slowly have increased it. I basically just listen to what my body tells me. If I start to feel a bit too tired/sluggish then I drop my fruit intake and increase my protein. You're right about tons of opinions about Paleo it can be confusing, but I tend to stick with Robb as well as Whole 9's website.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara!
ReplyDeleteI completely know what you are talking about with the many versions of Paleo/Primal eating out there. It can get confusing. However, the thing that I love is that this underscores the fact that Paleo is not a "one size fits all" type of diet. My fruit intake parallels my activity level, if I am running a lot I definitely do not shy away from fruit!
ReplyDeleteThe weight loss and fat reduction market seems really complicated so it is great to find a blog that sets things out so well. Keep up the good work!
