Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
It's that time of year again! The brand new, shiny new year approaches. I am excited. I love looking forward to the new year, like a blank page just begging for us to write on it. And OH, do I plan to write on it this year!
I love taking this opportunity to reflect on the next year and what I want to accomplish in it. It helps me to think: at the end of this year, what do I want to look back and see? After batting that idea around in my head for a few weeks I like to sit down and set my goals. Make action plans for how to achieve these goals. Then, set out to do my best at making it happen.
I've made goals for all aspects of my life. For 2012 I've decided to keep my health and fitness goals simple. Attainable. Focused.

As I stare out at the blank page that is 2012, I have big hopes, big dreams, big goals. I'm excited for this new year. I say bring it!
How about you? On December 31, 2012...what do you want to look back and be proud of?

I've made goals for all aspects of my life. For 2012 I've decided to keep my health and fitness goals simple. Attainable. Focused.
They are:
- Run 3 5ks. Normally I run 1 or 2 a year. I want to step that up a bit. I don't have any current plans to focus on other distances. Just the 5k.
- Run a sub 30 minute 5k. I really want to break this barrier. My fastest 5k so far was 32 minutes and change. I really want 2012 to be the year I do this!
- Do 1 pull-up and 1 chin-up. This has been a goal of mine for some time. It. Will. Happen. This year. (There will be video when I reach this goal! Plan on it.)
- Workout consistently. 5 days a week. I have always struggled with my consistency. Especially with workouts. Since going paleo I feel like I've got the food/diet consistency down. This year I want to achieve that with my workouts too.
That's it for my health and fitness goals. No weight loss goals. No scale goal. No clothing size or body composition goals. I choose not to focus on those things any more. Instead, I choose to focus on what I want to do fitness-wise. To be able to do. It works for me.
As I stare out at the blank page that is 2012, I have big hopes, big dreams, big goals. I'm excited for this new year. I say bring it!

Awesome goals! For me weight loss is one and I'm proud to be down weight from January 2011. It been a few years I have been on this journey & I wouldn't want it any other way. It's a lifestyle change.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great 2012!
being a better mom and partner.
ReplyDeletethe rest (and there is a rest :)) is all icing on the protein cake.
Ooo I like these goals, very do-able. And I like the idea of an action plan to help you achieve the goals, I am thinking of doing an action plan for some of my day zero list since this is the last year of that list.
ReplyDeleteLove your goals. All so positive and reachable. I'm going to continue last years personal mantra which is to live in the present. It doesn't come naturally for me. But I'll be repeating it everyday. :)
ReplyDeleteI think your goals are very smart. While we can "sort of" control the numbers, we also "sort of" can't. However, we can control what we do. As I'm trying to decide what my resolutions will be, this has been definitely going through my head.
ReplyDeleteThose are great goals girl! I need to make some for myself!
ReplyDeleteYOU GO GIRL!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals!
