Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a great day. We had so much fun.
We went to my aunt's house and had a yummy brunch. There may or may not have been a seriouly yummy ooey gooey cinnamon roll involved ;) (My philosophy on holidays is to workout hard the week before and the week after and indulge in those special things you really want and skip the eh, so so stuff.) After brunch we had an easter egg hunt for the kids. So much fun.
Then I played tag with my teenage son, younger brother, and younger cousins. Tag is a loose term here, lol. More like full contact, espionage, freeze tag. Yes, I was tackled once, and no there should be no tackling in tag. There was lots of wondering who was really it and who was conspiring to make you believe they were it so that the other cousin could tag you. Some hiding, lots of running and climbing, and I even discovered one of my cousins can jump a 6 ft fence. Ya, that's how we roll. It was hilarious and fun. We played for hours. A couple cousins rolled down the hill and a few things may have been seriously set asunder in my poor aunt's yard. I kept waiting for someone to get hurt!
Yes, normally we would have been holed up downstairs playing video games, but it was gorgeous outside and we all went out and got active! The best part was it was boys from 15 to 21..and me. None of the other adults played. Not sure if they could have played. A few years ago I wouldn't have been able to keep up with them. But this year I was running and jumping with the youngins and having a blast doing it. I was so thankful to have the physical ability I do now. This is about so much more than weight loss.
So, I am sore and tired, but blissful tonight from a day of just plain kid-like fun.
Oh yes, and I did weigh in this morning before we left. 172.5. Crazy. I lost 3 pounds this week. Scale is a fickle creature, but I'll take it!

That's Awesome! Who doesn't love a good game of Tackle Tag. Way to get out there and get crazy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun-filled day! I love that you allow yourself to enjoy holiday goodies with the family & make up for it in the gym. That's what I usually do too... but after spending last week visiting family indulging today is going to cost me, lol.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day, with a perfect weight loss week. I especially love the part where you were running and playing with the boys. :) You just can't replace that. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you were outside playing. I want to be like you when I grow up-I mean when I'm as healthy as you! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Journey - I want to be like you. how much fun does that sound? And you are so right, losing weight is just the tip of it all, being Health and Active is the prize.
ReplyDeleteDude...extreme tag sounds awesome! If you come to Fitbloggin' 11 (which you are, not really giving you a choice in the matter, kthx), we need to set up a game with the other bloggers :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss this week! Especially on Easter week with all the nummy food temptation. :) But I totally agree: work hard the week before and after, and you'll get away with having a "bad" week.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, well done! Sounds like you had fun. :)
That espionage freeze tag is right up my alley! Sounds like you had a most wonderful Easter. And congrats on your loss!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! And great job with the weight loss!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on all accounts! Gotta play like a kid with the kids now and then!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Three down! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I played tag with my son, niece, and nephews, I was designated as "the base".
At least they let me play.
