Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
I had a rough week last week.
The week started out great. I was eating Paleo, got some great workouts in, I was feeling on top of the world...then...well, then there was some tough stuff going on with some people in my husband's family. I was feeling hurt, emotional, all that good stuff...and I turned to food. Big time. There were bagels and sugar cookies involved (I don't even like sugar cookies, wth). The bad situation compounded with the bad eating choices ended the week with an overall down in the dumps me.

Accountability FTW! You've got this!
ReplyDeleteOhh how I can relate! Last week was not good for me either. Dang emotions and getting the best of us!
ReplyDeleteI'm back at it this week! My fancy cup is constantly full of water and my NEW Fitbook is getting filled in!
We got this! :)
Fall down seven times, get up eight! So sorry it was a rough week.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the rough week. I get it. But I applaud you getting back up and getting back on.
ReplyDeleteI love you to pieces.
It happens to the best of us. You know you will not let yourself down. Hugs all around...
ReplyDeleteBeen there. done that. I usually end up feeling sluggarish for a few days, until the bread and butter left my system. Call it the 80/20 rule. Call it a slip up. Who cares. What REALLY means something is sticking to the plans after that. You go, buddy!
ReplyDeleteKerri, we all need positive support. Glad I was one of them from Facebook. I also had family inlaw problems. I haven't spoken to his Mother in over 22 years. And because of her attitude and her telling my wonderful husband that he was no longer her son, he hasn't spoken to her in about 20 years. It is a long, complicated, yet worthless story. But, I have something interesting that I'd like to pass on to you. I mentioned before that I have been doing Paleo/Primal since 6/6/11. Well I lost a lot of weight the first 3 months, around 20 lbs. Then it stopped and I was going up and down the same 2 lbs since Sept. I never stopped eating Paleo / Primal just wasn't losing anymore weight. Then my Oct 31st issue of First for Women came in and like usual it contained another diet plan. But this one seemed interesting and I could keep it within the guidelines of Primal Blueprint. It is called the 17 Day Diet by Mike Moreno, M.D. The only thing that I have added to my diet that was not included before was plain Greek yogurt (Chobani) and this is allowed on Primal Blueprint. Now I'm not going to describe the diet because there is so much info on line but I receieved a great compliment from my husband after 5 days on this plan. He told me to turn around and said,"I can see that you've lost weight, you are looking slimmer". In those 5 days, I dropped 2 lbs. Not a big amount because I had already been doing Primal and all the toxins had been out of my system for months. But the belly fat is starting to dwindle. I don't normally push diets on people but I would like to recommend you to atleast look this one up. It has 3 cycles and the 2nd cycle allows starchy carbs, which I DON'T eat but it does allow yams / sweet potatoes and that I do eat. As I said, my husband complimented me and now he is doing this plan because he wants to jump start his weight loss too. If you do consider doing this, please let me know how you make out. Lydia
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you a big ole hug. I really wish we could grab a cup occassionally because I think I would benefit from your wisdom. Hang in there, they aren't worth it. and it seems like you hit the nail on the head - you don't deserve the punishment you're giving to yourself. I'm almost always a gtalk away.
