Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky...

This is my cat Koneko. Koneko means "kitten" in Japanese. Koneko has been waiting not so patiently for his feature on the blog. I'm pretty sure he can't imagine what else I could possibly have had to talk about that was more important than him. He's ever ready for his close-up. Koneko likes family walks around the place, sneaking up on our other cat Todd, and lots of cuddles.
I talk a lot about food on FitViews. You may know that I'm passionate about people nutrition, but I'm also equally passionate about pet nutrition. I believe healthy living is a family affair; furry family included!
Researching nutrition is one of my favorite past-times. I'm constantly reading books, articles, and blogs on all things nutrition. I actually do a lot of research on what our animals (from cows to chickens to goats to cats) are naturally meant to eat. What their bodies are built to thrive on.
Quality nutrition is essential to my family's overall well-being and that translates equally to my pets. Just as my family eats paleo because I believe it is what our bodies thrive on, I also believe my pets deserve a diet they will thrive on. For my cats this means a low carb, grain-free pet food. A pet food high in animal-based protein. A pet food that mimics my cat's ancestral diet.
I've been searching and trying different brands of cat food, but not really been happy with anything we've tried. And frankly my cats are kind of picky and flat turned their noses up at a few. Then, I was introduced to Nulo™ Pet Food. This! This is what I've been searching for.
Nulo Pet Food is a premium pet food available at Pet Smart nationwide. Nulo is pet nutrition inspired by world class athletes, and it perfectly aligns with what I believe my cats need most.
Why I love Nulo for my cats:
- Nulo provides a protein rich diet with industry leading animal-based protein levels that nourish growth, repair muscle and tissue, and enhance flavor.
- Nulo is lower in carbs promoting lean body mass.
- Nulo's patented probiotic, BC30, supports my cat's immune system, provides improved nutrient absorbtion, reduces gas and improves stool quality, and prevents growth of yeast organisms that may cause skin problems and ear infections. It also survives the cooking process.
- Nulo Pet Food is based in Austin, TX and their products are handcrafted from the highest quality, natural ingredients in Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Nulo remains one of the few independently owned pet food companies in North America.
- Nulo is grain-free pet food and contains low glycemic carbs like apples, carrots, lentils, and sweet potatoes.
I love Nulo's tagline Fuel Their Inner Athlete™ and their mission to live Healthier Together™ with our pets. I am a firm believer in living Healthier Together with my family. Which, you guessed it, includes our pets.
This not only means paying attention to what we put in our bodies, but also staying physically active. Pets too. Laying around on the couch all day does not a healthy pet make.
We have a super long driveway and 8 acres. One of our favorite family activities is a good long walk or hike around the place. Sometimes we take the goats, but the cats always come too. Even if we can't find them when we head out they always manage to find us! I think they enjoy it as much as we do. Healthy is truly a family affair for us.
After doing my research and switching my cats to Nulo Pet Food, basically, we love everything about Nulo. I love Nulo's philosophies on pet nutrition and living Healthier Together. My picky cats love the taste. What can I say? We're all smitten.
