Since going Paleo my family has fallen even more in love with our grill. Paleo and grilling just work well together. The past couple of years I've even been stepping outside my grilling comfort zone more and more. Grilling things I'd never thought to have grilled before and trying new flavor combinations. I have to say I'm pretty thrilled with the results of most of my flavor experiments. In the past I'd never have thought to grill fruit, but it's amazing. Grilling fruit and adding it to traditionally savory dishes? Brilliant. Oh yes, and? New rule: every burger recipe for the rest of forever must contain grilled pineapple. OK, maybe more of a guideline. It's a seriously delicious combination though. This Smoky Grilled Pineapple Burger is always a crowd-pleaser at my house. It's not only Paleo, but Whole30, glutenfree, lower carb, and clean eating friendly. I promise you won't miss the bun! paleo, grilled pineapple burger, smoky
My goals for the Weekend Warrior Challenge were to:
- Track my calories Saturday and Sunday. I tend to slip at this on weekends.
- Run 3 miles on Sunday. Really aiming to get one workout in on weekends.
- Keep calories under 1800 for Sunday even though I have a cheat meal that day.
The results??? I tracked my calories both days. 1233 Saturday and 1880 Sunday. Very enlightening. Kept me on track better both days. Amazing how you look at a cheat meal differently when you're going to track it!
Ran the 3 miles. Had to walk 3 times for a minute each time, but I thought I might have to. Still happy with that. Since I'm coming back from an injury my lungs seem to be the last to want to join this running party! I'll get there.
Went over by 80 calories on my Sunday goal, but I'm OK with that too. I think I will try to keep up with tracking on weekends. Really felt it kept me in check.
Awesome challenge Brandon! Why let all our hard work get tanked by a bad weekend?

Great! Weekends are tough to stay healthy. That's the only reason why I like that they are short.. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your results Kat, I would call that a successful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being part of the challenge!
Good work. Weekends are soooo hard. I think you made some really achievable goals, yet they were difficult enough to challenge. I know they would challenge me. Especially reigning in on my 'cheating'.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so good - well - great!

Awesome job! You make a good point about not letting a bad weekend ruin a perfectly good week. I LOVE this challenge!
ReplyDeleteNice to 'meet' you!
