Jillian Michaels Body Revolution: 7 Day Kickstart Your Metabolism Review and Results

The 7-Day Kickstart Your Metabolism portion of Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution is set up to be much more strict than the remaining program. Instead of daily 30 minute workouts you will do twice daily workouts, stacking the Cardio 1 workout on top of each regularly scheduled workout. That equals approximately hour-long workouts 6 days the first week. The diet plan is mostly meat and veggies with once daily dairy allowed and small amounts of healthy fats and nuts. It's structured into 3 meals and 1 snack with approximately 1200 calories daily. Up to 400 mg of caffeine daily is allowed (hallelujah).

The 7-Day Kickstart Your Metabolism plan is optional. It says to do it no more than once during the 90 day plan. I chose to do it my first week (the plan also outlines a normal week 1).

My 7 Day Kickstart Results
Weight 172 -2 pounds
Waist 30 -.5 inch
Right Thigh 19.5 -.25 inch
Right Calf 13.75 same
Right Arm 11.75 same
Bust 38.75 -.25 inch
Hips 40.75 same

All told I lost 2 pounds and 1 inch in week one of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. I'm extremely pleased with that. As I have been at a plateau for several months (5 maybe?) that's quite a bit for me. Many people have told me they've lost more in week one. Five pounds, eight pounds, etc. I think that since I already eat Paleo and workout regularly week 1 wasn't such a shock to my body as it's intended. Other than the lower calories of course. If you're coming off a more standard diet, or being less active I could see how you would lose faster during this week. It's strict.

As I already eat Paleo the 7-Day Kickstart diet wasn't too tough for me, but I'd imagine if you're eating a more standard diet it could be a little tough. There's no fruit, grains, sugar, or alcohol. Some people may even feel withdrawal-like symptoms as they detox. I know when I originally went off of sugar I had headaches, sluggishness, etc.

The week one workouts seemed much more beginner friendly than Jillian's other workouts. But don't think that means they're too easy. They also offer advanced versions of many moves, which I followed and got a great workout every time. I feel this plan is more accessible to a wider range of fitness levels than some of her other DVDs.

Week one was great. I enjoyed the workouts and I look forward to week two!
